Why I Am Not Angry

I have lived to see 7 Presidential elections, 3 maybe 4 of which I have been old enough to understand the dynamics that go on. Last night as my family watched Fox news with baited breath I could not help but think, God, I trust you.

As I went on the “Danger Zone” Facebook this morning I saw many people quoting scriptures of the last days, how it was God’s will for the election to end as is did, how God allows people to make their own decisions, and other conflicting reports. By conflicting, I do not mean the Bible is conflicting, I mean people’s views of the Bible were conflicting.  How can scripture means two conflicting things? Well, it can’t God’s word does not conflict itself.  And when I typed that period I meant, PERIOD.

Scripture was inspired by God and His Word is true! Yes, God raises and brings down Kings (Saul, David), He protects His people (Psalms 121:7) and He lets people decide their own fate (when the Israelites wanted a King and Saul became King). I am not here to argue what Biblical sign was given by the election and why.  I do not think it is my place to do so. However there is one thing that is very clear.  Every second that goes by is 1 second closer to God’s return. That is unquestionably, undoubtedly 100% verifiable.

Yes, I vote, yes I write to those in office, yes, I will write, read, speak and discuss my opinions, values and thoughts but what happened happened.  I can not change it. Why would I want to focus solely on something I can not change when there are things I can change and people I can make a difference to.

While Jesus was on earth the government was not desirable in my opinion, I think most would agree. Jesus did not focus entirely on the government, he focused on His gospel, to seek and save those who were lost and needed him.

I am and will forever be an advocate of the Conservative Republican Party. I will vote in every election and will make banners and pass out pamphlets but I will not let that get in the way of what I am truly called to do.  To help others come to know Jesus. If Jesus were on earth now, I would have voted for him, but he is not on earth in physical form.

Why am I not angry? Because I trust in God.  Whether this was His will or He was letting America have their will I do not know. What I do know is God is the ultimate Leader. I look to Him for advice. Upset, yes. Angry, no. I believe if rules, regulations, taxes, and other things change for the worse God will be my help.

I believe as Americans we do need to be informed, stand up for what we believe in and sometimes even act a bit crazy for our party. But we need to also realize who is really in charge.  God can burn a town down for their disobedience (Sodom and Gomorrah), He can turn water into wine, He can provide lasting food to the hungry (I Kings 17:16), He can comfort, guide, heal and He can save our souls and that is just some of the things that no President has or will ever be able to do.
